DENVER – Denver-based incentaHEALTH announced this week they have partnered with Natural Grocers to host a Weigh and Win kiosk in the grocery chain’s South Colorado Boulevard and Evans location – with a second kiosk planned for their Parker location this fall. Weigh and Win is a free Colorado program that provides health coaching, weigh-ins via the patented kiosks and cash rewards for sustainable weight loss.
Centura Health is sponsoring the kiosk, giving participants in the Kaiser Permanente supported Weigh and Win program another easy-to-access location. Weigh and Win has more than 100 locations statewide.
“Keeping people healthy and on a path that leads to overall well-being is at the heart of the work we do every day – both within the walls of Centura Health facilities and out in the community,” said Eric Shadle, Director of Community Health for Centura Health. “This is why we are excited to partner with incentaHEALTH and Natural Grocers on this project. We’re excited to support this initiative and to partner with organizations focused on supporting the health of the people in our communities.”
Natural Grocers will officially unveil the kiosk at their 62nd anniversary celebration on Thursday, August 17 at 2053 South Colorado Boulevard in Denver.
“At Natural Grocers we believe in giving people the tools they need to sustain a healthy lifestyle,” said Heather Isely, Natural Grocers’ Executive Vice President. “Weigh and Win is a great resource for encouraging people to be more attentive to their personal health goals and to make healthier choices they can maintain for the long haul.”
Weigh and Win is a free, measureable weight improvement program that pays Colorado adults to achieve a healthy weight. Participant progress is tracked through quarterly weigh-ins at community kiosk locations like the one at Natural Grocers. The kiosk takes a validated weight measurement, BMI reading and a full-length photograph – providing a visual progress report of the participant’s weight improvement.
“Natural Grocers truly embodies incentaHEALTH’s mission of making our community a healthier place,” said Lia Schoepke, Director of Civic Partnerships and Development for incentaHEALTH. “Through our partnerships, we can continue to move the needle and together we can provide the tools necessary to help community members achieve a sustainably healthy lifestyle.”
Weigh and Win is a unique, behavior change program that has helped Coloradans lose over 300,000pounds since 2011. The average weight loss for a participant after one year in the program is 8 percent, or about 18 pounds. Weigh and Win has over 90,000 participants.
The program is supported by Kaiser Permanente and additional community partners, in an effort to encourage healthy eating and active living throughout Colorado.
