On Sept. 18, 2016, Money Magazine named Highlands Ranch, Colo. the #1 healthiest city to live in the United States.

The study looked at the ratio of the doctors and hospitals within a 30 mile ratio of the community, percentage of the population covered by health insurance and the number of residents who reported “feeling healthy.”

Not by coincidence, there is also a Weigh and Win kiosk (powered by incentaHEALTH) located at the Kaiser Permanente in Highlands Ranch (9285 Hepburn St.). The kiosk is available to adults (18 and older) for free and not only takes the resident’s validated weight measurement, BMI (body mass index) measurement and a before and after photo, it pays those with an unhealthy BMI to lose weight.

Once signed up for the program, the participant receives health coaching (daily fitness and nutrition plans) via email helping to support their behavior change. The kiosk has been installed for one year (since October 2015). Over 6,500 weigh-ins have taken place and 8,000 pounds have been lost by local community members.
