The free program that’s helped Fremont County users lose more than 1,600 pounds is running its annual Happier, Healthier Holiday Challenge. Weigh and Win is a free program funded by Kaiser Permanente that pays participants to lose weight.

For the holiday challenge, all participants must do is complete a pre-holiday weigh-in between Nov. 18-25 at one of Fremont County’s two kiosk locations, and then complete a post-holiday weigh-in between Jan. 1-8. If participants maintain their weight within one pound, then they are eligible for the prize drawing.

Everyone who maintains their weight is entered into a drawing. KP will give away ten grand prizes of a $125 Sports Authority gift card and ten runner-up prizes of a $25 Sports Authority gift card. In the year and a half that Weigh and Win has been here, Fremont County users have lost more than 1,600 pounds.

Weigh and Win was brought to Fremont County by the Fremont Regional Health & Wellness Team that’s based out of Cañon City Schools and also serves Fremont County’s RE-2 and RE-3 school districts.

Fremont County has two kiosks, one stationary at Cañon City Area Recreation and Park District, 575 Ash St., and the other is a traveling kiosk that can be checked out by schools or businesses for a one-week time slot. To learn how to check out the mobile kiosk, email Sarah Ley, [email protected]. Participants do not need to be insured by Kaiser Permanente to participate in the program.
