The Wall Street Journal has a great article on January 5, 2010 summarizing some of the recent findings about the benefits of exercise.  Some of the secret benefits of exercise highlighted in the story include:

  • 27% lower risk of stroke
  • 50% reduction in the incidence of diabetes
  • 40% reduction in the incidence high blood pressure
  • 60% lower risk of colon cancer
  • 40% reduction in risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease
  • Equivalent effectiveness as Prozac for improving depression
